Financing your project in Ariège: territorial aid, tourism and agriculture

Overview of public support in Ariège: territorial investment, tourism, agriculture and partner schemes. Beneficiaries, sources and limits of the aid.

Introduction

In Ariège, some of the departmental funding identified concerns public investment, territorial tourism, water and sanitation, and agriculture. The Département must not be presented as the funder of a general grant for all businesses: the eligible applicant, the applicable regulations and the real funder must be identified.

Who is this guide for?

For businesses and farms in Ariège, but also for municipalities, EPCIs, associations and territorial operators carrying out investment projects. Several of the items identified are reserved for public bodies or collective operators.

Distinguishing direct aid from territorial support

Aid to municipalities and departmental investment funds are not direct grants to businesses. A company may potentially act as a service provider on a public project, but this does not make it the beneficiary of the grant.

Departmental Local Action Fund

Departmental budget documents refer to a Fonds départemental d'action locale (FDAL, Departmental Local Action Fund). This is a territorial investment instrument aimed at local authorities under the applicable rules. The detailed rules and the current round must be requested from the Département.

Territorial tourism investment

The Département has historically allocated funding to tourism investment grants. Eligibility depends on the regulations in force, the status of the project owner and the nature of the project. Historical budget figures do not constitute a scale that is open in 2026.

Water and sanitation

Water and sanitation investment grants appear in departmental budget documents. Check whether the applicant is a municipality, a joint authority or an EPCI, and whether a scheme is open for the current financial year.

Agriculture and the rural economy

For farmers, priority should be given to looking for Région Occitanie aid, State schemes, FranceAgriMer, the Agence de l'eau (water agency) and European programmes. The Département may be involved via territorial programmes or partnerships, but each item must be checked before being attributed to its budget.

Business premises

A departmental budget document mentions an investment line linked to business premises. This is not enough to establish an individual window open to businesses: request the regulations, the scope, the beneficiaries and how it relates to the Région Occitanie.

High-speed broadband and infrastructure

The Département leads or co-funds territorial infrastructure, including high-speed broadband. Funding for infrastructure does not constitute an individual aid automatically available to local companies.

Partner funding

Depending on the project, examine schemes from the Région Occitanie, ADEME, the water agencies, the State, the European Union and Initiative network operators. Entries must retain the name of the real funder.

Preparing an application

Prepare the financing plan, the timetable, quotes, the project owner's council resolution if the applicant is a public body, authorisations, and the evidence demonstrating territorial impact. Check the requirement to apply before works begin.

Status and availability

The amounts found in the 2022-2024 budgets are historical and must not be interpreted as current grant caps. No rate or individual amount is published here without a corresponding recent regulation.

Sources and verifications

The Département's official budget documents are used as proof of the existence of intervention lines, not as proof that a call for projects is open in 2026.
