The company
GUASCH & FILS is a family-owned company based in Perpignan, in the Pyrénées-Orientales department. Established in 1980 (the group's history dates back to 1952 at the Place République market in Perpignan), it specializes in meat processing and preservation, charcuterie, and meat trading.
Its business is part of a regional supply chain combining livestock farming, slaughtering, cutting, processing and marketing. The company works in particular with cooperatives and local players in the meat industry, with more than 95% of its raw materials sourced from Occitanie according to its CEO.
The company is identified under SIREN 319 049 276, with a main business of meat processing and preservation (NAF code 10.11Z).
The initial need
Adding value to agricultural production does not depend solely on the farms that raise the animals: it also requires suitable processing infrastructure, cutting capacity, industrial equipment and commercial outlets. GUASCH & FILS wanted to accelerate the development of its business by creating a meat hub in Perpignan, to strengthen the industrial link between livestock farms and commercial markets.
- Develop cutting and processing capacity.
- Strengthen outlets for production from regional livestock supply chains.
- Promote products from quality supply chains.
- Support Catalan culinary know-how and traditions.
- Support the company's commercial development.
The funded project
The project consists of creating a meat cutting and processing unit in Perpignan, to develop an industrial hub capable of better promoting production from regional livestock farms. The project relies in particular on several quality supply chains: organic farming (AB), Veau Vedell, Porc Tirabuxo, and Catalan lamb.
In his institutional testimony, Bernard Guasch, president of GUASCH & FILS, explains that European funding made it possible to create this meat hub in Perpignan and to accelerate the company's development by promoting production from regional livestock supply chains.
- Creation of a meat cutting and processing unit.
- Development of the meat hub's production capacity.
- Promotion of quality supply chains (AB, Veau Vedell, Porc Tirabuxo, Catalan lamb).

Results and outcomes
- Achieved
In May 2025, the GUASCH & FILS group opened a new processing plant (charcuterie) in Torremila, Perpignan — a separate investment, estimated at between 9,4 M€ (Pyrénées-Orientales Department) and 14 M€ (business press) depending on the source, intended to triple/double production capacity. No source consulted shows that this new plant benefited from the historic 600 000 € FEADER grant: the two operations must be kept separate.
