FEADER 73.08 — Productive forestry investments: renewing and adapting stands

The detail of eligible works must be checked in the applicable regional specifications.

1. What is this grant for?

The FEADER 73.08 intervention supports, depending on regional variations, productive forestry investments aimed at improving stands, renewing forests and strengthening their adaptation to climate change. The concrete rules — beneficiaries, works, rates and caps — are defined by the regional managing authorities.

2. Which projects can be funded?

Depending on the regional scheme, operations may notably concern:

  • the renewal or restoration of forest stands;
  • plantations and associated forestry works;
  • the improvement of existing stands and their productive quality;
  • the adaptation of stands to the effects of climate change;
  • diagnostics, studies or ancillary expenses when expressly permitted in the call for projects.

The detail of eligible works must be checked in the applicable regional specifications.

3. Who can apply for this grant?

Depending on the region and the scheme, beneficiaries may include private forest owners, owners' associations, local authorities or other eligible legal entities. Applicants must check the conditions relating to ownership or control of the plots, forest management documents and forestry commitments.

4. How much can be obtained?

The financial parameters are not uniform at national level.

  • Nouvelle-Aquitaine: a 73.08.01 scheme is dedicated to forest renewal and adaptation to climate change; the rate and caps must be taken from the notice applicable at the time of filing.
  • La Réunion: a 73.081 fact sheet published in January 2024 indicated a base rate of 80% and a maximum public aid rate of 100%. This reference is historical and must be verified before being used for a current application. No individual cap or single national envelope is presented here, in the absence of a verified consolidated reference.

5. How to prepare your application?

  1. Identify the regional 73.08 variation applicable to the plot and the project.
  2. Check the applicant's eligibility criteria, ownership rules and forest management documents.
  3. Define the renewal or improvement works with an appropriate forestry diagnosis.
  4. Calculate eligible expenses and apply the rate and caps from the notice in force.
  5. File the application according to the regional timetable, complying with the rules on the start of works.

6. Points of caution

  • Do not transpose the rate from one region to another.
  • The 80% rate found in the January 2024 La Réunion fact sheet is a historical reference, not a guarantee of current eligibility.
  • Amounts and envelopes must be confirmed in the regional version in force at the time of filing.
