Forest Soil Health
The 2026 call covered five regions: Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Grand Est, Normandy, Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Occitanie. Projects had to combine field trials and dissemination of results; improving local knowledge was optional. The call closed on 7 August 2026. Aid was capped at €150,000 per project, or up to €250,000 where a research organisation took part, subject to justification and review.
Are you leading a collective project to test forestry practices that preserve the structure, fertility and resilience of soils? ADEME’s “Forest soil health” call funded local demonstrators, knowledge building and the spread of practices among forest managers and local stakeholders.

Who can apply
Projects had to be led by groups of local stakeholders: public or private forest managers, local authorities, regional nature parks, forest owners’ associations, cooperatives, logging companies, consultancies, technical and research bodies or educational institutions. The project had to be located in one of the five regions covered.
Eligibility conditions
Projects had to cover strand 1 (local demonstrators and trials) and strand 3 (awareness-raising and dissemination). Strand 2, on improving local knowledge, was optional. The maximum project duration was three years. A pre-application and prior contact with ADEME were mandatory before the full application.
What the scheme covers
Expected actions included trialling practices that support forest soil health, assessing their effects, producing local knowledge and disseminating the results. Projects had to involve local managers and partners and include demonstrations and upskilling, rather than a stand-alone study.
Amount and funding terms
ADEME aid was capped at €150,000 per project. The cap could be raised to €250,000 only if the project involved a research organisation, subject to the project’s interest and ambition and a well-argued work programme. This cap is not an automatic rate: eligible costs and the funding granted depended on the specifications and the review.
How to apply
For a future edition, form a local consortium and identify the practices to test, the demonstration plots or sites and the result indicators. Prepare a three-year programme, a detailed budget and dissemination actions. Read the specifications, then arrange the pre-application with ADEME at least one month before the full application, as set out in the call.
Timeline
The call was open from 29 April to 7 August 2026 at 6 pm; it is closed. ADEME states that the list of winners will be published later on the official page.
