Industrialization is the point where a startup stops making prototypes and starts mass production. The scale of needs changes: several million euros in equipment and buildings, industrial hiring, a supply chain. It is also the stage where many industrial startups fail for lack of suitable financing.

The catalog lists {{ouvertes}} open schemes for this stage: a national long-term loan for first factories, accelerators, France 2030 and European calls for projects, and regional reshoring schemes.

What needs to be financed to industrialize?

A first factory draws on three categories of needs.

The production equipment

Building, production line, machinery, commissioning: the bulk of the amount.

The ramp-up period

Several months or years before reaching target volumes, to be financed over the long term.

Industrial organization

Hiring, sourcing, quality, choice of location.

The Prêt Nouvelle Industrie, designed for first factories

The Prêt Nouvelle Industrie (France 2030) is a loan of €3M to €15M, with no guarantee required, over 10 to 15 years, with a capital repayment grace period of up to three years. It specifically targets industrial demonstrators and pilot factories: its term and grace period match the time a first factory needs to reach full output.

Getting support: industrial accelerators

Bpifrance's Accélérateur Néo supports, over 12 months, executives of industrial startups preparing a first production line or first factory, in cohorts of 25 executives; Bpifrance subsidizes 62% of the program. The remaining cost and the dates of the next cohort are to be confirmed with Bpifrance.

France 2030, Europe and regions

Calls for projects target specific sectors. The France 2030 "Défi Flagships" call finances breakthrough technologies in robotics, drones and smart machines, in two phases (six months of preparation, then 24 to 30 months of development), with a next announced deadline of April 6, 2027. At the European level, the "AI gigafactory" call targets computing infrastructure for artificial intelligence, with a deadline of November 12, 2026.

Regions finance industrial investment and reshoring, often with European funds: Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes's Pack relocalisation is one example, with rates and caps set on a case-by-case basis.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Prêt Nouvelle Industrie require guarantees?

Bpifrance presents it as a loan with no guarantee required. The final contractual terms depend on the review of the application.

Can a factory be financed solely with public grants?

No. Public funding complements equity and bank financing; it only covers part of the need.

Do regional grants depend on the location?

Yes, it is the main criterion: the choice of site determines which regional and European grants can be accessed.
