Feasibility Studies for Waste Heat Recovery Installation
ADEME funds feasibility studies for waste heat recovery and use installations for companies, local authorities, inter-municipal bodies (EPCI) and associations of local players, in all regions, ahead of any investment supported by the Heat Fund.
Recovering waste heat can cut energy purchases at an industrial or tertiary site, but its relevance depends on the temperature, the availability of the source and the proximity of needs. This aid funds the study of an identified solution to check its sizing and profitability before investing.

Who can apply
Companies, local authorities, inter-municipal bodies (EPCI) and associations of local players may be eligible. The project must target a waste heat source and a coherent use for it.
Eligibility conditions
The study must concern a solution previously identified by an energy audit or an opportunity study. It must examine technical and economic feasibility, risks, heat availability and fit with needs. ADEME’s risk matrix must be completed and attached to the application.
What the scheme covers
Feasibility study of a waste heat recovery and use solution, including sizing, technical scenarios, cost analysis, risks and expected performance. The investment can then be the subject of a separate Heat Fund application.
Amount and funding terms
Funding for the study falls under ADEME’s 2026 conditions “Études en faveur de la transition écologique”. The rate and cost base depend on the service and the applicant; no universal cap is published. According to the official page, the application must include the risk matrix, which is mandatory for any grant application.
How to apply
Carry out or gather the upstream study justifying the solution, consult ADEME’s 2026 specifications and have the risk matrix completed. Choose a suitable consultancy, prepare the quote and apply on AGIR before ordering; contact the regional office to confirm the scope and eligible costs.
Timeline
Shown as running from 1 January to 31 December 2026 in all regions. The risk matrix is mandatory and prior contact with ADEME is recommended.
