Studies for Biomass Boiler Projects
ADEME supports local authorities, companies and associations with feasibility studies for biomass boiler plants and project management assistance missions, ahead of an investment that may then be supported by the Heat Fund.
Before building a biomass boiler plant, the feasibility study must check heat needs, fuel supply, sizing, site constraints and operating costs. ADEME can also fund project management assistance to support the project’s delivery.

Who can apply
Local authorities, companies and associations can apply in all regions. The project must concern a biomass boiler plant and have heating needs compatible with this solution.
Eligibility conditions
The applicant must show that the project follows the EnR’Choix approach: reducing needs, studying pooling, looking at waste heat recovery and comparing local renewable resources. The study must analyse technical and economic feasibility, sustainable biomass supply options and operating costs.
What the scheme covers
Feasibility studies for a biomass boiler plant and project management assistance for its delivery. Deliverables must compare technical solutions, size the installation, analyse wood supply and cost it. The investment falls under separate Heat Fund aid.
Amount and funding terms
The funding rate depends on ADEME’s 2026 conditions for ecological transition studies and the nature of the service (feasibility study or project management assistance). The official page gives no single cap; the quote must comply with the relevant specifications and the 2026 scale.
How to apply
Contact ADEME’s regional office before choosing a provider. Use the specifications for the feasibility study or the project management assistance, prepare the quote and consumption/supply data, then apply via AGIR before signing for the service.
Timeline
Shown as running from 1 January to 31 December 2026 in all regions. ADEME recommends prior contact; the study must precede the investment decision.
