The 4th generic i-Démo call, run by Bpifrance, supported structuring research, development and innovation projects in growth markets that contribute to the energy, ecological or digital transitions. It targeted in particular high-value products and services and industrial or pre-industrial demonstrators. Are you developing a highly innovative product, service or industrial demonstrator that requires significant R&D effort and could structure an industry sector? France 2030’s i-Démo call targets ambitious projects with strong economic, technological and environmental potential, led by a company or a consortium of industrial and research partners.

Who can apply

The 4th call allowed individual projects led by an SME registered in France (RCS), or collaborative projects combining industrial and research partners, possibly with end users. Collaborative projects had to include at least one SME or mid-cap and were limited to six partners, except in specific European cases.

Eligibility conditions

Projects had to be ambitious and innovative and generate economic and technological benefits while contributing to the transitions. The total cost base had to exceed €4 million for the 4th generic call. Support was subject to EU state aid rules and to the governance, financing and application requirements set out in the specifications. The 4th edition is closed.

What the scheme covers

The scheme targeted the development of high-value innovative products or services and industrial or pre-industrial demonstrators, such as prototypes in a representative environment or pilot lines. Projects had to strengthen France’s technological capabilities and deliver benefits beyond a one-off relationship between partners.

Amount and funding terms

Public support could take the form of grants and repayable advances, depending on the size of the applicant, the type of project and EU state aid rules. The 4th generic call expected a total cost base above €4 million. The amount granted is not a uniform rate: it depends on the eligible budget, the nature of the work, the consortium structure and the review.

How to apply

For a current project, first check whether an i-Démo call or a thematic France 2030 scheme is open. Define the technology readiness, R&D costs, expected results and consortium. Consult the active specifications, then prepare the financial and technical application with the partners before the deadline. Do not reuse the dates of the 4th call, which is now closed.

Timeline

The 4th generic call was open from 17 July 2024 to 15 July 2025 at noon. It is closed. The timetable and rules of any later call must be checked on the official Bpifrance page.
