Heat Production Installations from Deep Geothermal Energy
The Heat Fund supports local authorities, companies, public bodies and associations installing deep geothermal heat production, with or without a heat pump and heat network; the aid depends notably on the heat produced and energy and environmental performance.
ADEME supports installations that use heat from deep geothermal aquifers, with or without a heat pump and with or without creating or extending a network. The application must show that energy sobriety, pooling of needs and waste heat resources have been considered before sizing the geothermal production.

Who can apply
Local authorities, companies, public bodies and associations, in all regions. Projects must use a deep geothermal resource for heat, generally from a deep aquifer, with possible connection to a heat network.
Eligibility conditions
The applicant must show that energy sobriety and efficiency, pooling of needs, local waste heat recovery and environmental integration have been taken into account. Subsurface and surface feasibility, the quantity of heat and the expected performance determine the review.
What the scheme covers
Building deep geothermal heat production installations, with or without a heat pump, and operations linked to creating or extending a heat network. Study, feasibility and project management assistance phases can also be supported.
Amount and funding terms
The aid is set under the conditions “Géothermie profonde – Conditions d’éligibilité et de financement – 2026”. It depends notably on subsurface and surface studies, the quantity of heat produced and energy and environmental performance; no single rate or cap is given in the page summary.
How to apply
Contact ADEME’s regional office before any commitment, and prepare the subsurface and surface study, sizing, expected heat output and economic analysis. Apply on AGIR with the technical and financial documents requested in the 2026 guide.
Timeline
Running from 1 January to 31 December 2026 in all regions. ADEME’s regional office must be consulted beforehand to clarify the technical criteria, required performance and financing arrangement.
