prêt d'honneur — Réseau Entreprendre Nord
The Réseau Entreprendre Nord prêt d’honneur combines financing in the form of a prêt d’honneur with entrepreneurial support, according to the local branch’s terms. The application must clearly set out the business model, market, financing need, resources already secured and prospects for creating or developing jobs. The detailed criteria must be checked against the official rules in force. Details from the catalogue: the scheme aims in particular to help entrepreneurs (founders, buyers, developers) of future job-creating SMEs with strong growth potential to emerge and succeed, through a prêt d’honneur to consolidate the founder’s equity and ease access to bank loans; personalised support for 3 years from business leaders who are members of the Réseau Entreprendre® Nord association; and 3 years of monthly group training in running a business, provided by volunteer business leaders in a “winners’ club”, where entrepreneurs share successes and difficulties with other new business leaders and break their isolation.
The Réseau Entreprendre Nord prêt d’honneur is for entrepreneurs who want to structure a start-up, a takeover or, where local criteria allow, a growth phase. The scheme is about more than financing: the application must also show the strength of the project, the manager’s ability to run it and the value of entrepreneurial support. For the Réseau Entreprendre Nord branch, the first step is to confirm the area covered and the selection criteria currently applied.

Who can apply
Beneficiaries mentioned in the catalogue: founders of start-ups with strong growth potential, aiming eventually to create a significant number of jobs (at least 5 to 10 over 5 years), with financing needs equivalent to those of a future SME (at least €70,000). Buyers of a company with at least 10 full-time-equivalent permanent employees at the time of the takeover. For a court-supervised takeover, only an asset acquisition through a newly formed company is eligible; taking over by continuing the existing business should be avoided. Business development projects: companies with revenue of €500,000, at least 5 full-time-equivalent permanent employees and at least two balance sheets, aiming for significant growth (doubling) in revenue and headcount. Franchisees are excluded, except in exceptional cases where the franchise agreement shows real independence from the franchisor and support proves relevant.
Eligibility conditions
The founder(s) (bound by a shareholders’ agreement) must hold a majority of the capital of the company created; projects in which a Réseau Entreprendre member is a shareholder are not eligible, save in exceptional cases and with full transparency towards the board of directors. However, if that member is a very small minority shareholder (less than 10%) of a financial company that itself holds shares in the project, the project may be presented. Managing the company created must be the founder’s main activity; the founder must have a real need for support and wish to receive it, and must share Réseau Entreprendre’s values and apply them in their company. Réseau Entreprendre steps in during the crucial start-up phase of the new company, when support is most effective — from 6 months before creation to 18 months after the business starts. Start-up projects are no longer supported from 18 months after the business starts, or where technical feasibility has not been demonstrated. The company’s registered office must be close enough to a Réseau Entreprendre association for it to provide quality individual and group support.
What the scheme covers
Eligible operations: creating a company with strong growth and job-creation potential; taking over a company with a strong commitment from the new entrepreneur to give it fresh momentum; creating companies that take social and environmental issues into account. These projects are defined by the Réseau Entreprendre® Nord association under its Impact+ programme; creating an innovative company in the R&D phase; and developing a company where the manager intends to set up governance and double revenue and headcount. Eligible investment: start-up investment — the company’s equity and working capital needs.
Amount and funding terms
Amount indicated in the catalogue: A prêt d’honneur with no interest or security, granted personally, of €15,000 to €70,000 (up to €100,000 for innovative projects), repayable over 5 years.
