Eligibility conditions

The project must develop a cultural, remembrance or history site (excluding museums) in a rural area for tourism. The applicant must first complete the EcoBoussole sustainability self-assessment and offer its product on the Explore Grand Est platform. Awards depend on regional priorities. The application must be submitted before the project starts and before quotes are signed; the full file must be sent at the latest within a year of the online request and before works are completed. Supporting documents must be sent within the time limits set by the agreement.

What the scheme covers

Developing a cultural, remembrance or history site (excluding museums) in a rural area for tourism, with creation or fundamental renewal of the visit offer. The following may notably be considered: prior consultancy and studies, scenography and interpretation, reception equipment, signage, multimedia tools and digitalisation of the visit, IT equipment and graphic communication within the limits set by the rules. Excluded in particular: road works, land acquisition, outdoor landscaping, lighting of monuments and investments linked to a one-off event.

Amount and funding terms

Regional aid can cover up to 20% of eligible costs, with aid capped at €150,000. A 10% sustainability bonus may be added, capped at €20,000. An additional €5,000 bonus may be granted to projects that commit to obtaining the Tourisme & Handicap label, on presentation of the certificate. The rules for calculating excluding/including VAT and the costs taken into account depend on the beneficiary’s situation and the rules in force.

How to apply

1. Check that the site is in a rural area and is a cultural, remembrance or history site, not a museum. 2. Complete the EcoBoussole self-assessment and prepare to put the offer online on Explore Grand Est. 3. Describe the visitor route and distinguish scenography, interpretation, reception equipment, digital tools and communication from ineligible costs. 4. Check the sustainability bonus and, where relevant, the commitment to the Tourisme & Handicap label. 5. Apply before signing quotes and starting the project, then meet the deadlines for completing the file and providing supporting documents.
