AACT-AIR — Support for Local Authority Action on Air Quality
ADEME supports local authorities carrying out studies and action pathways to improve outdoor air quality, as a priority in areas exposed to threshold exceedances by 2030; funding covers eligible studies, not a universal flat amount.
AACT-AIR funds the studies local authorities need to build an action programme against outdoor air pollution. The scheme targets in particular areas likely to exceed the NO₂ and particulate limit values, or the ozone target values, in 2030.

Who can apply
The scheme is for local authorities that want to build an outdoor air quality policy for their area. Projects in areas potentially exceeding regulatory values in 2030 have priority.
Eligibility conditions
The study must help define an action programme consistent with air quality objectives for 2030, and can build on the work of a climate-air-energy plan (PCAET), an air quality action plan (PAQA) or, where applicable, an atmospheric protection plan (PPA). The application must cover an assessment of the situation and the objectives/pathways; quantitative health impact assessments can be included.
What the scheme covers
Eligible studies cover assessment and action pathways for NO₂, PM10, PM2.5 and ozone, notably to prepare a local roadmap. The exact scope of eligible costs is set out in ADEME’s 2026 financing conditions.
Amount and funding terms
The amount depends on the accepted study costs and the AACT-AIR 2026 financing conditions published by ADEME. The applicable cap and rate must be read in the official document “AACT-AIR – Conditions d’éligibilité et de financement – 2026” linked from the scheme page; no reliable maximum amount is given in the catalogue data.
How to apply
Consult the AACT-AIR 2026 page and its financing conditions, then prepare the study scope, objectives, method and provisional budget. Apply via ADEME’s AGIR platform with the documents requested; have the arrangement confirmed by the regional office beforehand.
Timeline
The scheme is announced as open from 1 January to 31 December 2026 on the official ADEME page. Check the application rules and actual availability of funds before starting the study.
