Automatic Support Investment in Short Film Production

The producer uses a sum already credited to its automatic support account to finance a short film or co-production. It must submit an investment approval application to the CNC’s Cinema Directorate. The amount that can be used depends on the account balance, the budget and the applicable scale/rules; the official page provides the 2025 application file, budget, financing plan and scale.

This scheme allows a feature film production company with an automatic support account at the CNC to invest the sums on that account in producing or co-producing a short film. It is not a grant open to any company: access depends on the existing automatic account, the film project and the investment approval issued by the CNC.

Who can apply

Feature film production companies holding an automatic account opened in their name at the CNC. The scheme allows investment in producing or co-producing short films, subject to the required approval and the conditions of the General Aid Rules.

Eligibility conditions

The producer must have an automatic account and present an eligible short film or co-production project. The investment approval application must be submitted to the CNC before the support is used. The documents, criteria for the work and follow-up conditions are set by the General Aid Rules and the current CNC documents.

What the scheme covers

Financing the production or co-production of a short film by using the sums credited to the producer’s automatic account. The budget, financing plan and production costs must be presented in the approval application using the CNC templates.

Amount and funding terms

There is no single flat-rate amount: the investment is funded by the sums available on the producer’s automatic account. The amount that can be used must be calculated from the available balance, the budget and the financing plan, according to the approval scale and the CNC’s General Aid Rules.

How to apply

1. Check the automatic account balance and the rules for using it. 2. Build the short film’s budget and financing plan. 3. Gather the documents for the CNC investment application and those relating to the project and contracts. 4. Submit the approval application to the Cinema Directorate, Department for Support for Diversity in Creation. 5. After the decision, follow the payment and reporting arrangements set by the CNC.

Timeline

The timetable depends on submitting the application and obtaining approval. The CNC page provides the 2025 investment documents; check the applicable version and deadlines directly on the official page before applying.
