Start-up Pass

The scheme targets innovative businesses less than five years old located in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, with at least €40,000 of cash equity, reduced to €20,000 for bonus projects more than 50% owned by women and/or young people under 30 active in the business. The grant can reach €50,000, or €60,000 in the bonus case. The maximum intensity is linked to equity and the review takes into account the financial need, the innovation and the regional benefits.

Are you launching an innovative start-up or preparing a structuring step such as a pivot, market validation or commercial launch? Nouvelle-Aquitaine’s Start-up Pass can contribute to the business’s overall funding. The aid is not limited to a single invoice: it is calibrated according to the funding needs, equity and development potential of the project.

Who can apply

An innovative start-up less than five years old located in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, with at least €40,000 of cash equity, or €20,000 for the women/young people bonus. The project must target a product or service based on a significant innovation and have value creation potential. Activities mainly in consultancy, engineering, IT services or training are excluded.

Eligibility conditions

The application must demonstrate the innovative nature, development potential, funding need and regional economic benefits. Contributions in kind do not count towards the required equity. Cash equity must remain consistent with the public aid received. The Region first reviews an information form, then opens a detailed review for selected projects.

What the scheme covers

Overall needs linked to the launch or a structuring step of the start-up: structuring the project, validating a pivot, developing the product or service, preparing the market and associated financial needs. Unlike an investment grant, the aid is not allocated to a rigid list of invoices.

Amount and funding terms

Grant capped at €50,000 as a general rule, up to €60,000 under the bonus scheme. The maximum intensity is assessed against cash equity and the applicable aid regime. The funding covers overall start-up needs or a structuring step, with no strictly defined cost base. Payment follows the regional vote and contracting; allow at least six months between application and payment.

How to apply

1. Formalise the business plan and a three-year financial forecast. 2. Check the cash equity and the date of creation. 3. Complete the regional information form and send it to startup-region@nouvelle-aquitaine.fr. 4. Attach the Kbis, financial information and project presentation. 5. If the project is selected, complete the online application and prepare for the review interview.

Timeline

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. The Region announces initial feedback on eligibility within two to three weeks; allow at least six months between application and payment after the review and vote.
