Support for Publishing in the Breton Language
The current regional page distinguishes books in Breton from bilingual books, and new print runs from reprints, according to their volume. The rates and caps in the historical catalogue differ from the current presentation: use the amounts on the current official page and check how the specific project will be treated before budgeting the aid.
The Brittany Region supports professional publishing houses publishing books in Breton or bilingual Breton/other language. The aid covers the printing cost, not all the costs of creating the book. The application must be sent at least three months before the production date, without committing costs before the application is received.

Who can apply
Professional publishing houses, voluntary and commercial, based in Brittany. Also check the location, legal form, business size and any sector exclusions in the current rules.
Eligibility conditions
The applicant must complete the publishing aid application form and provide all requested documents at least 3 months before the project’s production date. The publisher must: publish at its own expense, which involves signing a contract with the author or translator specifying the percentage of pay, calculated on the book’s retail price, from the first copy sold — books published at the author’s expense will not be accepted; make the legal deposit and obtain an ISBN for published books; publish and regularly update a catalogue of its productions and work with a professional distributor; promote published books through listing in bibliographic and commercial databases; respect professional ethics in its relations with authors, other publishers, distribution channels, bookshops and librarians; send the Brittany Region a publishing programme, which may be adapted or changed during the year. Books supported by the Regional Council for Breton-language publishing and intended for schools or pupils must use the common spelling of the three bilingual or immersion education streams. For bilingual books, regional support only covers fully bilingual books, with the Breton text corresponding entirely to the French text; any imbalance is only allowed in favour of Breton. Supported books must carry on the back cover a mention of the Region’s support (“Embannet gant skoazell Rannvro Breizh”) and its logo. Before applying, confirm the version of the rules, the combination rules, the conditions for maintaining the activity and any obligations after payment.
