Renewable Heat Contract
ADEME offers local authorities, companies and associations a contract to finance a set of renewable and recovered heat projects, from potential studies to investment and monitoring; the property-portfolio contract can last up to six years.
The Renewable Heat Contract groups several renewable or recovered heat production operations into a single process. It is particularly useful when an applicant has several heating projects, some of which would be too small to be reviewed separately under the Heat Fund (Fonds Chaleur).

Who can apply
Local authorities, companies and associations may be eligible. The project can concern the beneficiary’s own property portfolio or, in the territorial version, a group of projects across an area.
Eligibility conditions
The contract must group projects using renewable thermal energy or heat recovery. It allows a single application covering several technologies and different project stages. The arrangement must be prepared with ADEME’s regional office, which sets out the eligibility and financing conditions.
What the scheme covers
Operations can include potential and feasibility studies, investment in renewable or recovered heat installations, and monitoring of installations. Technologies can include biomass, geothermal energy, heat networks, solar thermal and waste heat recovery, under each technology’s conditions.
Amount and funding terms
The amount is set according to the technologies, studies and investments selected, under ADEME’s 2026 Renewable Heat Contract conditions. The official page does not give a single cap for all projects: rates and eligible costs vary by operation and must be calculated using the scales for the relevant technology.
How to apply
List the heating projects, their maturity, current consumption and expected gains. Contact ADEME’s regional office to determine whether a territorial or property-portfolio contract is suitable, then prepare the studies and budgets requested. Submit the documents via AGIR in line with ADEME’s guide.
Timeline
The official ADEME page indicates a period from 1 January to 31 December 2026. The property-portfolio Renewable Heat Contract can last up to six years; contract terms and available funds must be confirmed with the regional office.
